2010 - 2011 COMMUNITY PROJECTS IN PERU
Thank-you for your continued support in these projects...
a portion of all proceeds from C7R healing work, events, tours and workshops go directly towards these initiatives.

Children of the Seven Rays is committed to building and contributing to community-based projects in the Sacred Valley of Peru that support the well-being and thriving of communities, with a special focus on children and holistic-based education.

Throughout the year we are involved in initiatives led and directed by the communities themselves which include contributions towards school supplies, special celebrations for the children and distributing warm clothing.  We have also begun to partner with like-minded schools, organizations and individuals in Canada and the US that are inspired to be a part of future projects...we look forward to sharing more with you in the upcoming months!

If you would like to make an additional contribution of either time, resources or a financial donation, you may do so by contacting us at: info@childrenofthe7rays.com

Children of the Seven Rays and the Community of Raatchi in the Sacred Valley of Peru: 2010 Year-End Report

Children of the Seven Rays and Traditional Andean Curandero (Healer) Jhaimy Alvarez-Acosta have established a longterm partnership with the community of Raatchi in the Sacred Valley of Peru.  Over the past several years Jhaimy has supported this community through his healing work and ceremonies as well as connecting visitors to the Andes with the community through Journeys to Peru that include community service and cultural sharing.

Working directly with the women, elders and leaders in Raatchi allows for a greater sense of understanding of the most urgent needs of the community and surrounding areas which currently include a strong focus on education and clean water.

Through our fundraising efforts and working with individuals, schools and partnership organizations in North America including a “sister school” in North Vancouver, BC (Eastview Elementary) we have been able to provide school supplies, clothing, educational toys and sports equipment as well as special events to celebrate holidays and seasons such as Christmas, New Years and the end of the school year.  Ayllu Kallpa is a community group in Vancouver, BC that has also stepped forward to play a key role in the service projects being initiated through Children of the Seven Rays, both in Peru and Canada.

In 2010, Children of the Seven Rays, along with our friends and partners in the North, were able to provide the following to the community of Raatchi and surrounding schools in the area:
  • School supplies (notebooks, pens/pencils, textbooks, etc....) for three Elementary Schools in Raatchi and the surrounding communities
  • 50 new volley balls and soccer balls
  • Celebratory cake and party for the children in Raatchi for the end of the school year
  • Additional school supplies to be stocked at the elementary school for children who need pencils, books, etc... (This is often a challenge for families to buy more than one book and so children don’t always have an extra notebook or pencil when they need one)
  • A financial contribution to the school for repairs to be done after the devastating floods that happened in early 2010
  • Purchasing new pipes and tubes that were used to re-route clean drinking water to the community
In 2011, we have our vision set on developing and expanding these programs to include the following:
  • Continued support for the elementary school in Raatchi as well as expanded programs out to surrounding areas that are more remote in the mountain communities
  • A clothing drive for warm jackets, hats, gloves, etc..as part of our May 2011 Journey to Peru Tour as well as consulting with the women leaders in the community to find out the most urgent needs at that time
  • Further developing our relationship with “sister school” Eastview Elementary in North Vancouver to include cultural exchange between the children in Peru and the children in Canada through the sharing of photos, letters and artwork (Young Eagle & Condor Program)
  • Creating a 3-year strategic plan with partners in North and South America to identify and address issues within the communities both in the Sacred Valley as well as the Downtown Eastside in Vancouver, BC to ensure that as many children as possible have their basic needs of school supplies and warm clothing met, while also providing them gifts of celebration and fun through the gifting of art supplies, toys and special treats throughout the year!
  • Committing each day to taking inspired action and working as a global community with others to “be the change you wish to see in the world”
  • In support of these initiatives we welcome all ideas, contributions and connections; knowing that together with our brothers and sisters in the South we can find creative solutions to improve the lives of children and future generations through the service of love.
Children of the Seven Rays as an organization is also committed to these values and demonstrates this through the gifting of 10% of all profits to community projects in the Andes of Peru as well as the future building of a
Healing & Educational Centre.
